The McAllen Bass Anglers established as a club in the early 70’s.
Some of the early members were Pancho Hamlin, of Hamlin Pools, Gil McMillan of Foremost Paving, Jesse Reed (now deceased), Jack Vickery, a now retired Border Patrol Agent, Frank Kraus, former Postmaster in Weslaco, Pat Kooch, and Glen Newby.
Before long there were about 25 members. The club held their tournaments at Falcon International on the Mexican border, and at Sugar Lake (Marte Gomez) in Mexico, near Roma, Texas.
About 15 years ago the club teamed up with the Beeville club and hosted the TABC State tournament at Falcon.
